How To Maximise Your Annual Leave in 2024 Using Bank Holidays

We’ve put together a handy guide using the UK’s eight bank holidays in 2024 to maximise your annual leave. If you work Monday to Friday and are looking at going away next year, keep reading to find out how to get the most days off whilst using the least days of annual leave. 

The great thing about our group tours is we take you to all the highlights of a destination. It couldn’t be simpler to get the most out of your holidays, even if you’re short on time. We’ve linked these bank holiday hacks to some of our most popular trips. 

March / April 2024

25th March and 1st April 

Chocolate eggs aren’t the only sweet treats we get at Easter! A strategically planned trip can get you 16 days away whilst only using 8 days of annual leave. Log out on the 22nd March and don’t return to the office until the 8th April - dreamy! 

Use this time to book our 24th March Bali Intro start date. In 12 days, you’ll tick Denpasar, Canggu, Lovina, Gili T and Ubud off your bucket list whilst only making a small 8-day dent in your annual leave. 

If Thailand is more your vibe, you can do the same with our 24th March Thai Intro start date. Explore buzzing cities and paradise islands, and visit an ethical elephant sanctuary. 

Your co-workers won’t believe how much you get up to whilst taking just 8 days booked off. To squeeze out the most of your time, stay for a few days in these destinations after your trip ends without using any more annual leave days! 

May 2024

6th May 

Use the May Day bank holiday to travel for 9 days whilst only using 4 days of annual leave. This is a great time to head to Europe and soak up the sunny weather, whilst destinations remain quieter as it’s outside of the school holidays. 

Our Croatia Adventure group trip has start dates every Sunday in May. Touch down in Zagreb on Saturday 6th May and fly out of Dubrovnik on Sunday 12th May, giving you an incredible week exploring all the highlights of Croatia. 

27th May

If you’re dreaming of exploring Italy, book our 26th May start date to use only 5 days of annual leave for our 10-day Italian Escape. 

Did you know a flight to Morocco is only 3 and ½ hours? Hop on this short flight for our 7-day Morocco Adventure. Use only 4 days of annual leave when you book our 25th May start date. 

August 2024

Monday 26th August 

The summer bank holiday similarly allows you to take 9 days off whilst only using 4 days of annual leave. 

Our 9-day Greece Summer Explorer trip has start dates every Saturday in the summer. Book our 26th August start date to explore Athens, Mykonos, Ios and Santorini and only take 4 days off work. 

December 

Use the Christmas bank holidays to get 12 days out of the office, whilst using up your final 5 days of annual leave. Maybe you’re a holiday season-at-home person or could use this time to get away abroad! 

Using these bank holiday hacks, you could get a total of 55 days away whilst only using 25 days of annual leave. Make sure you get your annual leave booked quickly before these tips reach your coworkers!
