Days 1-4: Amsterdam (The Netherlands). On this trip you will visit so many exciting destinations, and what better place to start than Amsterdam? This vibrant city is like something out of a movie, from the quirky buildings that frame Amsterdam’s rivers, to the canals themselves which are iconic in every sense of the word. You have more than enough time to explore Amsterdam’s renowned nightlife, but if partying isn’t your thing, don’t worry. Between the art galleries, the abundance of green spaces and the neighbourhoods bursting with life during the daytime, it is easy to fill your time here.
Days 4-6: Berlin (Germany). If Amsterdam has left you feeling energised and inspired, then you’re going to love Berlin. The variety of activities is almost unbelievable here. Digest Berlin’s deep history by visiting monuments, memorials and museums, or take a trip to the Berlin Zoo on a sunny day! If you’re more of a party animal, there is never a dull moment in Berlin and you will no doubt find bars and clubs for every day of the week. Regardless of your plans, the East Side Gallery is a must-visit for everyone who comes to Berlin. Here you will discover the work of over 100 international artists - including the legendary ‘Fraternal Kiss’ - and get to know Berlin’s divisive past more intimately.
Days 6-9: Prague (Czechia). Next on your itinerary is the magical city of Prague. While its sunset-coloured spires will take your breath away, Prague’s cosy and welcoming atmosphere will make you instantly feel like you’ve discovered a second home. Prague’s “Big Three” attractions are its magnificent castle, its bridge filled with statues, and the enigmatic astronomical clock - all of which can easily be seen in a couple of hours. You could explore the quirky museums or take a pub crawl around the city trying the delicious and cheap beer. If you’re in the mood for something more low-key, Prague is the perfect city to unwind in.
Days 9-11: Kraków (Poland). Easily one of the most underrated city breaks in Europe, Kraków packs a punch. From the enchanting Medieval Square - the biggest in Europe, in fact - to cosy cellar bars and UNESCO World Heritage Sites just outside the city, there is something for everyone here. Take some time to explore the beautiful Wawel Hill, as well as a visit to the St Mary’s Basilica which has a stunning blue ceiling. Soak up the Cloth Hall’s atmosphere and keep your eyes peeled upwards to see hidden city emblems painted onto the walls.
Days 11-13: Vienna (Austria). Vienna is a modern-day fairytale, featuring exquisite palaces with royal gardens, pristine streets with dazzling architecture and endless sweet-treet indulgence. Deciding which palace to visit or what dessert to order with your coffee (the answer is always chocolate sachertorte) are just some of the questions you will be asking yourself during your visit to Vienna. It’s not every day that you get to live like a King or Queen!
Days 13-16: Budapest (Hungary). After endlessly exploring Austrian palaces, step into steamy spas exclusive to Budapest. Aside from soaking in the steamy hot water said to have muscle healing benefits, while in the water you can admire Budapest’s signature style of Art Nouveau architecture. Budapest’s scenery is spellbinding, whether you are admiring the sunset from Castle Hill or passing by its iconic buildings while on a river cruise. And Budapest is more than a pretty face, as it has some of the best nightlife in all of Europe!
Days 16-19: Ljubljana (Slovenia). Ljubljana is Europe’s best-kept secret. This city has always been ahead of its time, from the pedestrian-friendly streets and car-free centre to its environmentally friendly attitude. The result? Ljubljana is one of the greenest cities in all of Europe, with the rich landscapes creating the perfect contrast with the pastel Old World architecture style. And speaking of nature, the revered Lake Bled is only a one-hour bus journey away from Ljubljana. So whether you want to stay in the heart of the city or plan an escape into nature, the options are at your fingertips.
Days 19-21: Venice (Italy). If there is one city that embodies wanderlust, it’s Venice. From gondola rides guiding you through canals to exploring the backstreets on foot and getting inevitably lost, Venice is more than a destination - it’s like a lifestyle. It’s hard to break the habit of aperitivo and Cicchetti, which is like tapas with a Venetian twist. And who can resist scoops of gelato in between meals? Whether it’s your first time in Venice or the first of many, this floating city is guaranteed to surprise you. What a way to end your trip!
Day 22: Trip end. Your trip ends today in Venice, Italy. You can depart at any time.
This itinerary is a suggestion of what you could get up to and not included activities. This is a self-guided experience with transport and accommodation included (no group or tour guide). Travellers will be expected to arrange their own plans within each city - giving you absolute flexibility on this trip.
Why choose our interrailing trips?
Interrailing Europe sounds simple, right? As romantic as it sounds to purchase a pass and see where your adventure takes you, the reality can often mean scouring for affordable accommodation deals, losing track of which currency you need, getting train timetables mixed up, falling for tourist traps… you get the picture.
Our interrailing trips simplify this process so that you can travel around Europe in comfort. Firstly, all your travel between destinations on this trip is taken care of: including the more spontaneous train journeys and compulsory reservations. Regarding accommodation, you will stay in dorm-style rooms in centrally located hostels with great facilities. Prefer to have your own space? There is the option to upgrade to single or double rooms on this trip, or you could even choose to upgrade to 3 or 4-star hotels!
Our itineraries are designed to give you a taster of each destination with a few suggested activities. There is something for everyone in Europe, regardless of if you are most interested in culture, history, nature, nightlife or food.
How does it work?
Once you’ve booked one of our interrailing trips, you will receive access to a unique downloadable app that is tailored specifically around your trip. Here, you’ll be able to view the itinerary and accommodation details.
Your trip can start on any date of your choice - whether you’re dreaming of a summer getaway to Europe, exploring festive markets in winter or travelling in the shoulder seasons. While the dates, routes and durations are fixed after you start, you have absolute freedom for the time you spend in each city.
On trains that don’t require a reservation, all you need is your train pass to board the train. Where reservations are required, we’ll take care of it for you and include the details in the app. There are multiple train options for each journey, so it’s unlikely that you’ll miss them all. But if it does happen, speak to someone at the station’s information desk or call us on our emergency number.
Detailed information on how to get to your accommodation from the station will also be provided, including bus numbers, metro lines and walking directions.
