Days 1-2: London (UK). Your trip around the highlights of Europe starts with two incredible nights in London for a mini city break. Between the inclusive and multicultural food scene, the variety of free museums and galleries, the West End buzz and the beautiful bars and bookstores which line the streets, there is so much to love about this city.
Days 2-5: Amsterdam (The Netherlands). Next up, it’s Amsterdam! This quirky city has so much to offer travellers outside of the nightlife, exhilarating as it may be. From ‘Amsterdam essentials’ like canal cruises to gallery-hopping, to riding a swing on top of a skyscraper and hanging out in green spaces, you are spoiled for choice here.
Days 5-8: Berlin (Germany). The buzz of Berlin is spectacular. With a combination of chilling history and dazzling nightlife like no other, it’s no surprise that Berlin is a favourite city break for so many travellers. More spacious and green than other capitals, exploring Berlin can feel like a breath of fresh air. So between visiting Cold War landmarks like Checkpoint Charlie and the East Side Gallery, why not take the time to wander the gardens and forests of Tiergarten?
Days 8-10: Munich (Germany). Munich is the ideal destination to experience a mix of old-school and modern German culture. From the fairytale Marienplatz Square to the ivory and gold Nyphenburg Palace, Bavaria’s capital is bursting with beauty. Yet if there is one thing Munich is most famous for, it’s the social butterfly culture. Home to an abundance of traditional beer halls and gardens where you can order hearty hot meals and brews, there is something so cosy about Munich.
Days 10-13: Paris (France). Widely regarded as the “Art Capital of the World”, Paris is an inspirational city to explore. While the Louvre is number one on most people’s lists, this museum is so gigantic that it would take you several days to explore in full! Planning out what you want to see in advance is recommended, whether it is seeing the Mona Lisa or discovering the Louvre’s hidden treasures. For cheaper and more chilled activities, an afternoon detour to Montmartre or Le Marais is highly recommended.
Day 14: London (UK). End your interrailing trip with one final night in London - talk about going out on a high! Now’s your chance to see the sights you missed out on two weeks ago.
Day 15: Trip end. We hope you’ve enjoyed this two-week independent trip around the highlights of Europe!
This itinerary is a suggestion of what you could get up to and not included activities. This is a self-guided experience with transport and accommodation included (no group or tour guide). Travellers will be expected to arrange their own plans within each city - giving you absolute flexibility on this trip.
Why choose our interrailing trips?
Interrailing Europe sounds simple, right? As romantic as it sounds to purchase a pass and see where your adventure takes you, the reality can often mean scouring for affordable accommodation deals, losing track of which currency you need, getting train timetables mixed up, falling for tourist traps… you get the picture.
Our interrailing trips simplify this process so that you can travel around Europe in comfort. Firstly, all your travel between destinations on this trip is taken care of: including the more spontaneous train journeys and compulsory reservations. Regarding accommodation, you will stay in dorm-style rooms in centrally located hostels with great facilities. Prefer to have your own space? There is the option to upgrade to single or double rooms on this trip, or you could even choose to upgrade to 3 or 4-star hotels!
Our itineraries are designed to give you a taster of each destination with a few suggested activities. There is something for everyone in Europe, regardless of if you are most interested in culture, history, nature, nightlife or food.
How does it work?
Once you’ve booked one of our interrailing trips, you will receive access to a unique downloadable app that is tailored specifically around your trip. Here, you’ll be able to view the itinerary and accommodation details.
Your trip can start on any date of your choice - whether you’re dreaming of a summer getaway to Europe, exploring festive markets in winter or travelling in the shoulder seasons. While the dates, routes and durations are fixed after you start, you have absolute freedom for the time you spend in each city.
On trains that don’t require a reservation, all you need is your train pass to board the train. Where reservations are required, we’ll take care of it for you and include the details in the app. There are multiple train options for each journey, so it’s unlikely that you’ll miss them all. But if it does happen, speak to someone at the station’s information desk or call us on our emergency number.
Detailed information on how to get to your accommodation from the station will also be provided, including bus numbers, metro lines and walking directions.
