Accommodation
11 nights’ accommodation is included on this trip in a mixture of hotels, hostels and safari tents. Accommodation is on a twin, double or multi-share basis. Multi-share rooms will be a combination of mixed-sex and single sex rooms of up to 4 people.
- 2 nights in twin share rooms in hotel with swimming pool in Johannesburg (Birchwood Hotel or similar)
- 1 night in a twin / double share resort with shared bathrooms in Graskop (Mogodi Lodge or similar)
- 2 nights in a twin-share tents with shared bathrooms in Kruger National Park (Muluwa Camp or similar)
- 1 night in twin/double huts in Hlane National Park, Eswantini (Ndlovu Camp or similar)
- 1 nights staying in ensuite twin rooms in Zululand (Biweda Nguni Lodge or similar)
- 1 night in twin share rooms by the beach in Blythedale (Blythedale Beach Lodge or similar)
- 3 nights in twin/triple/quad hotel rooms in the centre of Cape Town (Mojo Hotel)
Meals
11 breakfasts and 4 dinners are included on this trip. You’ll need to purchase the rest of your meals and snacks and drinks yourself. It’s a great opportunity to sample the varied local cuisine and to eat where and when you like.
Day 1: Welcome to South Africa! Arrive into Johannesburg and we’ll pick you up and take you to our starting accommodation, where you can check in from 2pm. Kick back and relax by the pool before meeting the rest of your group later.
Day 2: Soweto Township. First up today we’re learning about the history of Soweto township on a guided tour. We’ll visit the beautifully designed Apartheid Museum or Mandela’s House depending on availability. Later we’ll head out later for some drinks at the best watering holes around.
Day 3: The Panorama Route. Today we will travel the legendary Panorama Route for views that are out of this world. You will see some of Africa's most stunning landscapes.
Day 4: Kruger National Park. One of the world’s best wildlife-watching destinations is on the menu today - Kruger National Park! Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife as we drive to our on-park camp. Then enjoy a traditional potjie, which is an authentic South African dish.
Day 5: Kruger Safari. Hop into an open vehicle and head into the park for the chance to spot elephants, rhinos, lions, buffalo and more. Tonight, we’ll enjoy a braai; whilst our guide gives us an explanation of the history of the dish.
Day 6: Cross the border to Eswantini. This morning we’re ticking another country off the list and heading to Hlane Royal National Park in Eswantini (previously Swaziland), home to all the safari big hitters. Drop your bags and take a sunset game drive. Tonight, enjoy some traditional Swazi singing and dance.
Day 7: Zululand. We’re on our way to Pongolapoort Nature Reserve today, where we’ll visit a local village to learn more about daily life before visiting and creche, watching a traditional Zulu dance and then gathering round the campfire for a braai bbq
Day 8: Explore Coastal Towns. Continue on towards the coastal city of Blythedale. Enjoy a free afternoon and hit the beach, enjoy some wine tasting, or go dolphin spotting. Tonight, eat some bunny chow, a local speciality!
Day 9: Cape Town and Table Mountain. Take a short flight to gorgeous Cape Town. This afternoon scale Table Mountain to watch the sun set over the city (weather dependent). Then stroll down to the V & A Waterfront to shop, pop into a local brewery, and take in the views.
Day 10: Cape Town Tour. Today we head off on a walking tour of Bo-Kaap, an area known for its colourful houses and Cape Malay culture. The tour will continue with a drive past the Houses of Parliament, the City Hall, District 6 Museum, Slave Lodge, The Castle, and Cape Town Stadium. We will finish the day with a cocktail in hand as we watch the sunset.
Day 11: Cape Peninsula. Gear up for a day of adventure as we explore the dramatic beaches and cliffs of Cape Peninsula. We’ll go on a cruise to get up close and personal with wild fur seals, stop for photos at the impressive Chapman’s Peak, then explore the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and hang out with a colony of wild African Penguins on Boulders Beach.
Day 12: Trip end. Pack your bags and say goodbye to the rest of the group. Either make your way to Cape Town International Airport (CPT), or continue your travels in South Africa. See you again soon!

Arrival Information:
Arrive into Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport (JNB) on day 1. There are no activities on the first day, so you can arrive at any time. You can check-in to your room from 2pm. You’ll be met at the airport and taken to your starting accommodation. If you choose to arrive before the starting day, we can book you into our starting accommodation from the day you arrive, at an extra cost. Speak to your travel advisor for more information.
Your amazing adventure finishes on day 12 in Cape Town and you can depart at any time. You can either make your way to Cape Town International Airport (CPT), choose to stay on longer in South Africa or continue your travels around Africa.
Age & Eligibility:
You’ll need to be a minimum of 18 years old to participate in this trip. This trip is designed for 18-39 year olds.
British passport holders can enter South Africa for a stay of up to 90 days without a visa. Your passport should be valid for at least 30 days beyond your intended date of exit. However, some immigration officials request at least 6 months validity. You’re advised to ensure your passport meets this requirement.
