Starting in gorgeous Guatemala and ending in colourful Costa Rica, we’ll take you to pristine rainforests, surf towns, colonial cities, ancient Mayan sites and active volcanoes! Stay with a local family in Nicaragua, try your hand at white-water rafting and fly through the jungle on a zip-line in Costa Rica, and swim in cool lake waters in El Salvador – it’s an adventure you won’t forget in a hurry!

Day 1: Antigua (GUATEMALA). Arrive into the seductive pastel-toned city of Antigua, Guatemala, and make your way to your accommodation. Immerse yourself in the markets and vibrant street-life, before enjoying a first night out with your group.

Day 2: Antigua to Copán (HONDURAS). Head to Copán. A beautiful town with cobblestone streets and bright white buildings, Copán is a charming place to spend a day or two.

Day 3: Copán. Enjoy a free day in Copán. There are some great optional activities on offer, including a visit to Luna Jaguar Hot Springs, a tour of the majestic Mayan Copán ruins, and a horseback tour of rural Honduras.

Day 4: Copán to Suchitoto (EL SALVADOR). Travel to the charming colonial town of Suchitoto. Explore the compact centre, cobbled streets and colourful buildings. Don’t forget to try the delicious pupusas, a local speciality.

Day 5: Suchitoto to Playa El Tunco. Head to the chilled-out surf town of El Tunco. Catch some waves before sundowners on the beach.

Day 6: Playa El Tunco. Enjoy the laid-back vibe on a free day here. We’ve got surf lessons on offer if you want to make like a local and ride the rollers.

Day 7: Playa El Tunco to León (NICARAGUA). Travel to the capital of Nicaragua. Explore the historic centre before dancing the night away with your new friends at a local salsa bar.

Day 8: León to Granada. Travel to the colourful colonial city of Granada. Wander round the leafy squares and picturesque streets or take a trip to the still-active Masaya Volcano.

Day 9: Granada. You’ve got a free day to explore lovely Granada. Opt for an excursion to Mombacho Volcano, or Laguna de Apoyo, or just wander round the photogenic streets.

Day 10: Granada to Isla de Ometepe. Cross Lake Nicaragua by ferry to get to unspoilt Ometepe. You’ll be spending the next two nights in a local homestay – it’s a really authentic cultural experience!

Day 11: Isla de Ometepe. Full day on the island to spend time with your host family and to enjoy optional activities such as hiking up Concepcion Volcano, visiting an ancient pre-Columbian site, and swimming in the lake.

Day 12: Isla de Ometepe to Monteverde (COSTA RICA). Travel to the pristine cloud forest of Monteverde. This lush green reserve is brimming with wildlife, from tapirs to monkeys. Kick back and relax in this out-of-the-way spot.

Day 13: Monteverde. A free day in Monteverde. Explore the cloud forest, or take an optional activity including flying through the jungle on a zipline or a coffee plantation tour.

Day 14: Monteverde to La Fortuna. Travel to Costa Rica’s adventure town of La Fortuna, which lies at the base of the mighty Arenal Volcano.

Day 15: La Fortuna. Enjoy free time in La Fortuna. Try canyoning, white-water rafting, hot springs bathing, paddle boarding, cave visits and much more!

Day 16: La Fortuna to San José. Our final destination has museums, stunning parks and a breath-taking mountain backdrop. Hang out in the central plaza, pick up some souvenirs or take an optional rafting trip on the Sarapiqui River before a final night out with your new friends.

Day 17: Trip end. Say your goodbyes and either head home or continue your travels. See you again soon!

Your trip starts in Antigua, Guatemala on day 1 (make sure you don’t get a flight into the island of Antigua – it’s nowhere near this tour!) Day 1 is an arrival day and no activities have been planned other than your welcome meeting, so arrive into Guatemala La Aurora International Airport (GUA) any time that suits you. The easiest way to get to your starting accommodation is to either book an arrival transfer through us (speak to your travel advisor), or by taxi (there are fixed rates at the airport counter). It is about 45 minutes’ drive from the airport to the hotel. On arrival at the hotel, you’ll find a note with information on the meeting time and place.

The trip ends on day 17 in San Jose, Costa Rica. There are no activities planned for your departure day so leave at a time that suits you. San Jose International Airport (SJO) is the nearest international terminal.

Accomodation

16 nights of accommodation are included on this tour. 14 nights you will be staying in simple hotels and hostels in multi-share rooms with 4 – 6 beds (single-sex basis). You’ll also have two nights in a community homestay. We’ve chosen a range of unique accommodations to give an authentic local flavour to your trip.

Meals

Includes 2 breakfasts, 2 dinners. 

You’ll need to be a minimum of 18 years old to take part in this trip. The trip is designed for ages 18 – 39.

Guatemala: British passport holders can visit Guatemala for up to 90 days without a visa.

Honduras: British passport holders need a visa to enter Honduras. Due to a change in regulations, this must now be done in advance or travel with the Honduran Embassy, and cannot be done at the border.

El Salvador: British nationals do not need a visa to visit El Salvador for up to 90 days. Your passport needs to be valid for a period of six months from your date of entry.

Nicaragua: British nationals can visit Nicaragua for up to three months without a visa. You may be refused entry if you don’t have an onward ticket out of Nicaragua. Your passport needs to be valid for a period of six months from your date of entry.

Costa Rica: British nationals will not require a visa in order to enter Costa Rica and can remain in the country as a visitor for up to three months. Your passport should have at least one day’s validity from the date you are leaving the country. Entry may be refused if you do not have evidence of onward travel. You will have to pay an exit tax when leaving the country by air. Check with your airline whether this is included in your flight. Please note you may need proof of Yellow Fever vaccination due to countries visted previously visited.
