This is an adventure tour involving camping and lots of participation, including setting up camp, as well as shopping, cooking and other camp duties. It’s a lot of fun, but best suited to travellers looking for a bit of a challenge. The transport is a really unique feature of this trip too, with most of our journeys undertaken in our 24-seat custom-built safari vehicle. Most of our game park visits are carried out using smaller 4x4 vehicles provided by local services so you can get up close and personal with the wildlife.
Itinerary
Day 1: Pretoria to Hazyview (South Africa). Your tour kicks off early in Pretoria. Grab a window seat and get ready for jaw-dropping views as we take the aptly named Panorama Route to Hazyview, on the outskirts of Kruger National Park. Enjoy an evening of singing and dancing from local Shangaan tribesmen before a night under canvas, with the sounds of the bush all around.
Please note: Due to the early start today you need to arrive the night before and book an extra night of accommodation.
Day 2: Kruger National Park. We’ll enjoy a full day’s game drive in this incredible National Park. Keep your eyes peeled for lions, elephants, buffalo, giraffes and leopards as we off-road it through the stunning landscape. Then return to camp for another evening of fun under the stars.
Day 3: Hazyview to Tshipise. Leave Hazyview behind and travel north through spectacular countryside to Tshipise. We’re staying on a sprawling campground, dotted with baobab trees and hot springs. Take a dip, stroll through the lush woodland, and enjoy some dinner with the gang.
Day 4: Tshipishe to Bulawayo (Zimbabwe). Get ready for some more ink in your passport today as we cross the border into Zimbabwe. We’re headed for a campsite on the outskirts of Bulawayo. The afternoon is yours to relax by the campsite pool or explore the local area at your own pace.
Day 5: Matobo National Park. Spend half a day exploring the wonders of Matobo National Park with our local guides. With the highest concentration of Black and White Rhino in Africa, and the densest population of leopard and black eagles in the world, get ready for some amazing wildlife spotting opportunities! Spend the afternoon chilling on camp, or upgrade to a full day tour.
Day 6: Bulawayo to Livingstone (Zambia). Cross the border into Zambia, where our destination is the laid-back town of Livingstone. We’ll pay a visit today to the mighty Victoria Falls. Then either kick back at our riverside campsite or get your adrenaline pumping with an optional white water rafting experience on the Zambezi River. Celebrate your final night with the rest of your group.
Day 7: Livingstone and trip end. Your tour ends today in Livingstone. Why not stick around and get involved with some of the incredible adventure activities on offer here, including bungee jumping, gorge swinging, jet boating, and white-water rafting?
Optional Adventure Pass
The Adventure Pass entitles you to an awesome game walk in Matobo National Park, Zimbabwe. The cost of this is separate to the cost of the tour. You will need to pay the cost of your pass directly to your tour leader in Africa at the beginning of the tour. The cost is $100 USD, but is subject to change. Paying separately for the pass ensures that local suppliers benefit directly from the income.
